Dispatch from SF: what I wrote to my coworkers Maura and Miro this morn
So fun! My hotel is perfect old timey…its ancient. A family with little british boys are also there and the walls are awful so they woke me up screaming cockadoodledoo @ 6am. British accents made it endearing. Like Charlie Bit My Finger endearing.
Yesterday I spent 7 hrs exploring The Mission. TARTINE is ridic and I’m bringing the Sidecar boys back there today. I had olive cake, a pastrami sandwich and a choc chip oatmeal walnut cookie yummmm. Sandwiches are huge so I had 2/3 for dinner.
Best store so far was def GRAVEL AND GOLD…. I spent a fortune on striped tops and crafty things. Maura u should def check it out online, it’s a perf mix of brooklyn designer clothes, vintage, imported interesting pattern stuff, CRAFTS (geometric screenprints, clay pots etc), handmade jewelry, vintage craft/art books. Perfect store. The shopgirls were batiking leggings when I was there.
Also I think The Mission has the Most Good Bookshops of anywhere, ever.
Today I start boy travel (tartine, maybe the haight) and d’arcs reh. dinn is in the eve. We are hosting the comedy show (it’s at a theater) and In and Out is catering. Fun! Maura thanks for all the recs. You were totally right — the Mission is kinda scary and I’m glad I didn’t have to spend the night there.
Cable cars are packed with all the wrong people (tourists) but THEY INDUCE HAPPINESS.
THANKS FOR BEING MY MORNING DIARY GUYS
Oh also manicures are better here bc they do ur arm massage after your nails are painted, wrp your arms in hot towels, and give u a real shoulder massage, not a 5 second tease. If you were wondering. BYEEEE
